Keith Theodore Meinert

Keith Theodore Meinert, 63, of Grundy Center, passed away December 27, 2012 at the Grundy Care Center under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Keith was cremated per his request. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00 am at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, IA. Memorials may be directed to the Grundy Care Center, Cedar Valley Hospice, or to Bethany Presbyterian Church. Keith was born August 9, 1949 at the Eldora memorial Hospital in Eldora, IA, the son of Peter Theodore (Ted) and Gladys Emalina (Herzog) Meinert. He graduated from Grundy Center High School and attended Marshalltown Community College. He worked for Sharp Livestock for several years and then was employed by the City of Grundy Center until his death. During his life, Keith enjoyed hunting trips with friends, cooking and grilling for the Jaycee Senator''s food stand at fairground events and for his friends and class reunions. He enjoyed watching the birds that came to feed at his feeders and the deer that occasionally wondered up to his yard to eat. He also enjoyed chatting with his neighbors and friends. Keith was a member of IOOF Telulah Lodge #285, the Grundy Center Jaycees and later the Senators, Farm Bureau, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and the Grundy County Cowboys. He was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church. Keith is survived by two sisters, Patricia Meinert of Forest City, IA, Diane Husak of Gladbrook, IA; two nephews Lance and Tim Husak both of Des Moines, IA; and several Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
