Edna Fae Cornell, 87, of Davenport, IA passed away on Friday December 28, 2012 at the Davenport Lutheran Home. As were her wishes, she will be cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date with a spring burial at a private family cemetery in Illinois. Edna Fae McMurphy was born December 21, 1925 in rural Pope County near Herod, Illinois to Zack McMurphy and Elza (Cogdill) McMurphy. She was united in marriage to the love of her life Garcie Cornell on October 4, 1943. To this union was born one daughter. Edna Fae worked for Potts Store, the Rosiclare Hotel and Hardin County General Hospital while she lived in Southern Illinois. When she, her husband and daughter moved to Davenport in 1963 she worked for Sears Tent and Awning. She later worked for the Davenport Community School District with 21 years of service as a custodian for Central High School and then Truman School. One of Edna Fae''s greatest joys was the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to send a special thank you to the Davenport Lutheran Home, Genesis West Hospice, and Genesis West Neurology nurses and staff for all of their care.
