Tom Hise
I am very honored to have known Tom for all these years. It leaves an empty feeling in me knowing he is gone. Jan you are such a brave person to have gone through Tom's agony with such caring passion. May Tom RIP
I was sorry to read of Tom's passing. I remember him from high school and college, when he had that snazzy red MG roadster.
Jan and family, We are so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. You were both very brave during his illness and now Tom is suffering no more. You have lots of wonderful memories to keep you during these sad days. Gary enjoyed having Tom on his Rockwell team and everyone loved his sense of humor. Heaven has gained another real "character"! Sympathy to you all. Gary & Judy
I've much to be thankful for in having known Tom since childhood and we both clung to that friendship through the years. Not only did we share a love of Amateur Radio, we shared watching home computing come of age. Many's the time I would hurry home from school and walk to meet Tom. We shared countless hours listening to The Answer Man on radio, playing records including the then new group Bill Haley & the comets, reading Mad Magazine, building model kits, and experimenting with things electrical including the making of cat-whisker radios. We both watched our mailboxes for such silly things as Captain Midnight Secret Decoder Rings, and were proud owners of property in the Yukon thanks to Quaker Puffed Wheat. I will miss his quick answers to my math puzzlements, frequent emails, comments on most all of my blog posts, and occasional trips to Texas, Arkansas, and Florida to see me. With his passing I have lost my longest and best friend in this world and the only person with whom could share a ton of childhood memories. As kids, we reversed our names and were even using them to sign occasional emails. He was Esih Mot, I was Ekim Yespa. His ham radio callisign was NCØO, mine is K4YVM. My warmest condolences to his friends, family, and especially to his good and wonderful wife Jan who did so much to make his live a celebration indeed.
I am so glad you two traveled and enjoyed each other each and everyday take care jan
Jan, so sorry to hear of Tom . My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Cherish the memories!!!!!
Jan: My deepest condolences to you. Tom's obituary is a beautiful tribute to a life well lived. Tom made the most of each day and had so many interests, he knew no bounds to undertaking a new interest, taking a trip and spending almost 40 years with the love of his life...you. Anyone who had the opportunity to spend time with him knew that your relationship was special. May the many memories you have of all those years help you during this time when you go forward minus Tom. Cindy Micheles Volk-Binkley
I was one of Tom's ham radio lunch buddies. Had lots of good times and conversations at our lunches and at the EIDXA meetings. He will be missed by all but never forgotten. RIP Tom and 73s. your friend Ron de NNØL
Jan and Family, So very sorry to hear of Tom's passing. We have only been neighbors for about 5 years now, and similarly enjoy the quiet tranquility of our surroundings. This unfortunately does not offer the opportunity to know one another as I wish we could. I've always enjoyed talking with you and Tom when the opportunity presents itself. I know Tom had struggled with his illness for some time. Know that he is at peace now. His love will always be with you Jan. God bless you and your family, and may you hold his love in your hearts forever! Please do not hesitate to let us know if there's anything you need! We're right there.
Jan and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I only had the chance to meet Tom once in South Dakota at the Fantasy School writer's workshop in 1995. He was a sweet man. I just came across our FS yearbook and even now his picture is smiling out from the page. God Bless you all.
I would like to offer my condolences to Tom's family. Â I had the pleasure of working with Tom at Collins. Â He was an excellent engineer and made many significant contributions to the GPS programs. Â I will always remember his dedication to and personal responsibility for his work. Â He will be remembered as a person who positively affected the careers of many others. Sincerely, Mike Yakos
So sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I still remember the backpacking trip in the Bridger National Wilderness, Wyoming that we went on the the early 80's. When we returned to Pinedale after the trip, I still remember Tom ordering a 2 pound steak - and eating the whole thing. I pulled the pictures out just the other day to reminisce.
Jan & Family, I too am sorry to learn of Tom's passing, but know that he had you as a best friend for a long time. Many engineers at Collins including myself were fortunate to work with Tom and especially to learn from him. He was one of my Heroes at work and someone who was always available and helpful and an enjoyable person to be associated with.
Tom and I never met, except on the SFF.Net newsgroups, but his humour and love of life shone through his posts. We'll all miss him. I wish the family happy memories of a life well lived.
Sending sympathies to you and your family Jan. You are in our thoughts and prayers... Love, Your Curves family in Vinton.
Jan and family - We are thinking of you and praying for you in your time of sorrow.
Jan I was sorry to read about Tom's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. John & Judi Ziehr
