Evelyn E Wiebel

Evelyn E. Wiebel, 85, of Lowden passed away on August 18, 2012 at the Clarence Senior Living surrounded by her loving family. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden. A Celebration of Life will be held after the visitation at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family. She is survived by her three children, Connie (Ken) Hurmence of Clarksville, IA; Cindy (J.J.) Smothers of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Craig (Chris) Wiebel of Lowden, IA; two sisters Elda (Larry) Licht of Clarence and Eloise (Mike) Vacek, Oxford Junction, IA; a brother, Everett (Barb) Ruchotzke of Columbus Junction, IA; nine grand children, Damian (Alicia) Hurmence; Laura (Grant) McKaskle; Andrea (Rusty) Lee; Jenna (Kirk) Wischmeyer; Rory (Patricia) Wiebel; Joshua (Sara) Smothers; Tyler, Erica, Samantha and Smothers; 11 great grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Wiebel, parents Ed and Ida Ruchotzke; a sister Elizabeth Wiebel; two brothers, Eldon Ruchotzke and Harold Ruchotzke. Evelyn E. Wiebel was born June 7, 1927 in Clarence, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Ida Luettjohann Ruchotzke. Evelyn graduated from Clarence High School and then attended Iowa State Teachers College. She married Herbert Wiebel on August 14, 1949 in Clarence. She taught for two years as an elementary teacher for Newton schools, before working for the post office. After 30 years she retired from the Lowden Post Office. Evelyn was very active in volunteering and giving back to her community. She received the KCRG Nine Who Care award, Heritage Agency on Aging volunteer of the year award, Governor''s Volunteer award, and the Senior Citizen of the Year award. Evelyn was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in, Lowden, life-long member of the Amvets Auxiliary, and Cedar County Volunteer Services. She enjoyed sewing, listening to music, making quilts and spending time with her beloved family. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.
