Robert L. Samson

Robert L. Samson, 78, died Monday April 2nd at Palmer Lutheran Health Ctr. He was born March 13th, 1934 in West Bend, son of Elvin and Florence Goldtrap Samson. He married Nancy Gearhart July 11th, 1959, in Jackson MN. Mr. Samson was an educator for 30 plus years teaching Chemistry & Physics and coaching golf at North Fayette High School in West Union. Bob was instrumental in bringing the first computer to West Union Bob started a star gazers club through his physics class and introduced many students to the wonders of the galaxy. In his spare time Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, planting gardens, golfing and bowling. Bob coached the Jr. bowling program in West Union at Lilac Lanes. Bob served in the United States Air Force at Turner Air Force Base in Georgia 4028th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron 4080th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing. Past Commander of Legion Post 15 and Past Commander of AMVETS Post 3399. Survived by: his wife Nancy two daughters Deb and husband Leigh Bemus of Hudson and Dawn of West Union. Two sons Dwight and wife Denise of Sartell, MN, Derrick and wife Donna of Atkins. Grandchildren Brenda (Dustin) Engel, Linda (Eric) Marovets, Bree (Adam) Aldrich, TJ (Abby) Blockhus, Logan (Kim Hansen)Bemus, Jenn (Dave) Hengel, Cassie Samson, Zach Samson & Jerica Samson. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren. Preceded in death by: His parents and sister Dorothy Palmer, Memorial services: Visitation is Friday April 6th from 9:00am to 11:00am at the United Methodist Church of West Union with services following immediately after. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
