Judith Anne Southerland
Judith A. Southerland, 68, of Des Moines, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011, at the Mercy Hospice Johnston. A come and go celebration of life will be held at Judy''s home on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Judith Anne Southerland was born on August 5, 1943, to James Southerland and Frances Zittritsch Southerland Scheidegger in Lake City, Iowa. She enjoyed collecting lighthouses, reading Stephen King novels, going on Caribbean cruises, and her morning breakfast at Hy-Vee with friends. She retired in 2005 from Blue Cross Blue Shield after 44 years of service.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Reed of Cherokee; niece Alison Reed; nephews Sean, Joe and Brian Reed; great-nieces Khallie and Emily; great-nephews Clayton and Chantz; all of Cherokee; and great friends she acquired along the way.
Judith is preceded in death by her mom. She will be missed by all. A special thank you to the team at Mercy Hospice Johnston for their kindness and compassion with her care.
