Joseph Lee Geistkemper
Even with all the troubles, Lee was always courteous to me and Owen. I always looked forward to seeing him at the shop and hearing all his bull*#&!. I am sorry to hear of yor loss. Please accept my sincere sympathy. No one is ever ready to lose a father or friend. If I had been aware he was in the hospital here, I would have stopped by to see him. He was too young to pass, it seems to me. Karen
Our condolences to you Janice and all of Lee's family ! Janice I never had met you, but Lee talked very highly of you....I know Lee's family has all grown up. He always loved his children even if there were some difficult times. God be with you all! Lee's parents & family moved to the Oelwein area when Lee was in his early teen years. We lived next door to each other, but went to different schools. As we grew older, many of our friends would meet at the dance hall in Oelwein for an evening of fun. Lee always would keep us all entertained with his great stories. After all of us were married we would get together and play cards & socialize. Our children were very young. Miss those days! About three weeks ago, Lee stopped into see me before his doctor appt. We talked about the past and he asked how many of our friends were doing. Never in my wildess dreams, I thought he was really saying "goodbye". I could tell he wasn't feeling the best that day. He probably was shocked to see me not being in the best shape either. So "goodbye" my friend until we meet again in heaven!
I was so sorry to hear of Lee's passing. I enjoyed him coming into Farm Bureau and hearing his stories. He was fiesty and full of life till the end! He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go to Janice and the family.
Our Sincere sympathy to all the Geistkemper family and Janice upon the loss of Lee. I remember many years ago the neighborhood. car pooled to school and the car was packed with Geistkemper, Ronnebaum and Kramer kids, Lee and Ally Kramer being the oldest. In recent years, we became reaquainted and we reminised about those years. We shared some good laughs. This past year I had to call him from our shoe store, where I work, and inform him that he won a pair of shoes during our open house and he laughed and thought we were kidding. He was thrilled when he came in and left with a pair of work boots and he didn't have to pay for them. Rest in peace Lee.
My condolences to Lee's children and special friend Janice. Lee is at rest.
Lee will be sadly missed by all that knew him! He was a very hard worker and loved being outdoors! He loved Janice and would do almost anything for her! Janice and Lee were so caring and giving during the time the guys were recovering from their burns. He had a big Heart! He will be sadly missed by all who knew him! Dale, Connie, Rob, Adam and Scott Conrad
Lee was a good neighbor and always there when we needed him. We had to chase cows back and forth across our line fence many times for him. Lee stopped by to see Ronnie, my husband before Ronnie passed away and we really appreciated that. Both of my boys worked for Lee on the farm off and on and my daughter would babysit his kids. On behalf of my entire family we extend our deepest sympathy to the Geistkemper family.
I have many memories of Lee from my childhood when I would be with my dad either on our farm or his. He was always good for a laugh. The last time I saw him was at Backbone a few years ago when our family was staying there for the July 4th weekend and he was still good for a story and a laugh. You have my condolences.

Lee borrowed our Doberman, Oscar, for stud. That was how we first got to know him. He loved his horses too.Lee always had a good story to share. Sorry to hear of his passing.
I extend my sincere condolences to Lee's family. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead.
Dear Janice, Children, and all the family, You have our sincere sympathy and condolences for the loss of Lee. My dad was Hubert Geistkemper, Lee's grandpa. Lee's dad Elmer was my oldest brother. I was the youngest of the 14 children. Lee and I made our first communion together on the same day! Lee made me and uncle before I was born, he was 5 months older than me. I am 70 also. We lived in Chicago for more than 40 years, but moved back to Dyersville about 6 years ago. Since that time, Lee and I have connected countless times. We live very near the Dyersville Sales Barn and Lee would stop here at the house, or I would stop to see him at the sales barn every couple of months. I really enjoyed visiting with him, we had so many memories of our growing up years. He always had a story to tell. One story I had forgotten was when Lee and I were throwing plums at cars going past the farm in Petersburg (the home place) and we were pretty good throwers; in fact, one guy came back after we hit his car and told my dad, and Lee and I ended up washing the guy's car!! Lee had such an infectious laugh and that is silent now. I will miss his laugh and our visits together. His loss will be a big void in my life; especially Thursday's, knowing he was just a stone's throw away at the sales barn. May Lee have rest and peace in his new life. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and all his loved ones. God Bless Uncle Dan (Danny) Geistkemper and Sandy Geistkemper
