Ray William Lynch

Ray William Lynch, age 87 of Grundy Center died Monday March 14, 2011. A Memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday March 20, 2011 at The United Methodist Church in Grundy Center. Ray was born to Harry Vinton and Ella Marie Wiener Lynch June 13, 1923 the first of 5 children, in Clay Township rural Beaman Iowa. He was a member of the 1941 graduating class of the Grundy Center High School. On June 28, 1944, he was united in marriage to Lois Gene Baughman in Marshalltown, IA. Ray served with the Army in WWII. He and Lois were life long farmers who enjoyed fishing and spending summers in MN with family and friends. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center and was a former Board President with the Federal Land Bank in Cedar Falls. Ray and Lois were blessed with 3 children: Donna Rae who died in infancy, Gene Vernon (Susie Keck) Lynch of Des Moines, IA and Sharon Lynn (Paul) Harberts, 2 Grandchildren: Deirdre Ruth and Ann Elizabeth Lynch, 3 step Grandchildren Lizzie Meyer, Danny Meyer, Allie Meyer, 1 great-grandchild, George Arthur Mikklesen, 2 brothers: Harry Lee (Betty) Lynch of Garwin, Floyd Vinton (Nathalie) Lynch of Marshalltown, IA, 1 sister: Marian Ethel McCubbin of Grundy Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, oldest daughter Donna Rae, his youngest sister Marjorie Ann and her husband Donald L. Stahl. Memorials may be directed to the Western Home in Cedar Falls or the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center.
