Obituary for John Sanders

John Eugene Sanders, 73, of Garnavillo, Iowa passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011 in his home, following an extended illness. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family. John E. Sanders was born on October 28, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio the son of Howard and JoAnn (Schuh) Sanders. John worked 42 years for Allied Van Lines and in 1996 received Senior Safe Driver of the year. In 1997, he was a Driver of the Year Finalist. Upon retirement, John began working for Kuhlman Construction until his last retirement in 2009. John and Jill Lincoln Pasker were united in marriage on May 11, 2001 in Colesburg, Iowa. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Survivors include his wife, Jill Sanders of Garnavillo, IA; one son, Chester Sanders of Tucson, AZ; three daughters Rebecca Sanders, Melissa (Renee) Sanders, and Lisa Medina (Rito Ortiz) all of San Diego, CA; two step-sons, Benjamin (Melissa) Pasker of Bondurant, IA, and Nicholas Pasker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three granddaughters, and six step- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Mauri Rose (Kirby) Sanders. A Remembrance Service will be held on July 23 at 11 a.m. at Peace Church in Elkader Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
