Eugene "Gene" Owens, Jr.
Eugene A. Owens, Jr., 67, of Alburnett, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Friends may call from 9 to 11 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Eugene Albert Owens, Jr. was born on July 30, 1943 to Eugene, Sr. and Jean Bex Owens in Ashland, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Barbara Henderson on September 26, 1964 in Marion, Iowa. Gene proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam. He retired from Terex Manufacturing after 37 years of service. Gene enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his Harley and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Barb; sons, Christopher (Nicole) Owens of West Branch; Matthew and Micheal Owens both of Marion; sister, Annesley (Gary) Gunderson of Spirit Lake; brothers-in-law, Tom (Kathy) Henderson of Marion; Steven Henderson of Toddville; Doug (Maureen) Henderson of Marion; Donald Halstead of Brandon; a granddaughter, Peyton Owens; several nieces and nephews; special niece, Elizabeth Walker and great-nephew, Kaleb.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
