Jeanne Peterson
Jeanne Peterson, 85, of Forest City, Iowa died peacefully January 20, 2011 at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Forest City, Saturday, February 5th at 10:30 AM. There will be a private burial service at Oakland Cemetery in the spring.
Jeanne Olson was born on August 9th, 1925 in Northwood, Iowa to parents Tom B. and Martha (Hill) Olson. She was confirmed into faith at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, a faith which sustained her for her entire life. She graduated from Northwood high school in 1942.
Jeanne was employed by the Soil Conservation Service in Ames, Iowa where she met Calvin Peterson. Cal and Jeanne were married on November 11, 1949. They lived in Shenandoah, Iowa for a few years, then Kansas City, Missouri. In 1966, they moved to Forest City, where Jeanne assumed the duties of accountant for their new family business, Cal’s Supply.
Jeanne was a member of the Forest City United Methodist Church, and enjoyed her involvement in the church’s Women’s Circle. She and Cal enjoyed golf and playing bridge with friends. They were blessed with their daughter, Nancy, in 1967. Jeanne moved to Hiawatha a few years ago to be closer to her grandchildren, who were a great source of joy and entertainment.
Jeanne’s family includes her daughter Nancy, son-in-law Bill Mackin, and her grandchildren, Samantha, Calvin, and Alexander of Hiawatha; her brother David, Story City, Iowa; brother-in-law Raymond Lyle (Charlotte) Peterson of Mankato, MN; sisters-in-law Sarah Peterson, Garner and Rubee (Emery) Schroeder of Britt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cal, her brother Dale (and Myrtle) Olson, and sisters Kay (and Don) Streuber, Ruth (and Bob) Faulstich, and Dorothy (and Cliff) Krambeer; brothers-in-law Lewis (and Frieda) Peterson and Claire (and Muriel) Peterson; sisters-in-law Edna (and Allen) Eden and Verda (and John) Stratton.
All who knew Jeanne will remember her kind words, infinite patience, and genuine love for her friends and family.
