Galen Townsend
Galen “Burgy” Townsend, 53, of Cedar Rapids passed away January 30, 2011, at his home. A memorial service will be held at the Teamster’s Local 238 Union Hall, 5000 J St. SW at 10:30am Friday, February, 4, 2011.
Surviving to honor his memory are his siblings, Karen (Jerry) Kiburz, Gary (Coleen) Townsend, Joe Townsend and Laura (Doug) Edler, and close friend Garry Wagner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Mary (Finn) Townsend, and his sister, Linda Boots.
Galen was born December, 11, 1957 in Monticello, IA. He attended school in Monticello. Galen worked for Langer, Manufacturing as a welder for nearly 30 years. He was a big fan of Jeff Gordon, the Bears, the Hawkeyes and, especially, Rock & Roll. He loved spending time with his family. Above all, he cherished his nieces & nephews. Galen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
