Norbert Schwartz

Norbert L. Schwartz, 78, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center died there Friday February 4, 2011. Memorial services: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Living Hope Wesleyan Church by Pastor Dale Holloway. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Iowa Cremation is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Schwartz, his children, Paula Cufr of Cedar Rapids, Lisa McNeill of Adel, Iowa, and Lonnie Schwartz of Solon, Iowa, his grandchildren; Heather Roberson, Lance Cufr, Benjamin McNeill, Lucas Schwartz, Levi Schwartz, Lauren Schwartz and Lincoln Schwartz and his great grandchildren; Micah Roberson and Skylar Cufr. He was preceded in death by his parents. Norbert was born May 27, 1932 in Independence, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Hildred Matteson Schwartz. He married Geraldine Slaybaugh on September 7, 1952 in New Ulm, Minnesota. Norbert was an engineer for Rockwell Collins and retired in 1989. He was a member of Living Hope Wesleyan Church and was a ham radio operator. He enjoyed wood working, antique furniture and clock restoration and flying remote control airplanes. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Living Hope Wesleyan Church Building Fund.
