Judy Eileen Shoudy

Judy Eileen (Shaffer) Shoudy, 66, passed into eternity February 17, 2011, at Willow Gardens in Marion. Judy had early-onset Alzheimer’s. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 26th at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 3634 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, at 1:00 PM. Judy was born in Casper, Wyoming on November 4, 1944, to Bill (deceased 2005) and Barbara “Bobbie” (Anderson) Shaffer, who now resides in Toddville, IA. Judy grew up in Cedar Rapids and attended Arthur, Franklin, and Washington High schools. Fond childhood memories include shooting a toy bow in the fields that would become Noelridge Park and dressing up to go to Killian’s “downtown” with best friend Cindy Clyde. Judy leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Ford Ellsworth Shoudy, Jr., and children Dan (Wendy) Hartman, Dana (Randy) Myers, Kelly (Molly) Shoudy, and Kerry (Erin) Shoudy, all of Cedar Rapids, Don (Terrecia) Shoudy of Hazelton, IA, and Julie (Mike) McCormick of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Judy had 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Mike (Becky), Tim (Carla), Chris (Julie), and Jeff Shaffer, all living in Cedar Rapids, a special aunt, Betty “Nanny” Anderson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Judy was an enterprising and creative person and while caring for her children, house, and garden, she had her own wallpapering and painting business. She also worked as a Transporter at Mercy Hospital. Judy had many pets and took in strays of all kinds. She enjoyed hosting family holiday gatherings, camping, fishing, cooking, and repurposing items found at rummage sales into beautiful home décor. Judy was a Christian and enjoyed Bible studies and women’s fellowships at Knox Presbyterian, Noelridge Baptist, and Maranatha Bible churches.
