John Wendel

John Wendel, 79, of Dayton, IA., passed away on February 25th at Trinity Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Visitation will be held on March 1, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Dayton, IA., from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with services to follow. Inurnment will be held at a later date. He is survived by his brothers Douglas (Nina) of Jefferson City, MO., Walt (Donna) of Sergeant Bluff, IA., Earl (Joanne) of Rayville, MO., sister Elizabeth (Raymond) Bradley of Versailles, MO., 12 children, 43 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. John was born in Onawa, IA. on December 27, 1931. He served in the U.S. Army and Air Force for seven and a half years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Dora Lynn; brother Franklin James; sons Robert John and Jimmy Gilbert; daughter Darri Lynn Biggs; and granddaughter Billy Jo Ricklefs.
