Geraldine M. King
Geraldine M. King, 89, of Muscatine, died at her home on Saturday, February 12, 2011 due to complications from COPD. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Survivors include her children, Ronald (Tammy) King, Sharon Harmon, and Kenneth King all of Muscatine; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Harriet Hullinger of East Peoria, Illinois; many loving nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Vada (King) Baker. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; Lucien, her loving husband of 60 years; daughter Patricia Tietje; brother Albert; and sister Evelyn.
Geraldine was born on February 9, 1922 in Neponsit, Illinois to Karl and Mae Malchert. She spent the first part of her life at the Muscatine Lutheran Home where she took great pride in being a nanny to the other residents. Geraldine married Lucien King on May 24, 1941 in Des Moines, IA. She worked a number of jobs throughout her life and enjoyed being a homemaker. In her spare time, Geraldine took pleasure in crocheting, baking, singing hymns, writing poetry, playing the piano, doing puzzles, and attending various church activities.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 26th at 10:30 AM at the First Christian Church, 700 Kindler Avenue in Muscatine. Geraldine will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
