Donald Claire Pilcher
My memory is of a kind and positive uncle, I cannot remember him ever loosing his temper or saying an unkind word to or about anyone. He always teased me that he kept moving.... but I always seemed to track him no matter how difficult he made it. Rest in Peace Uncle Donald, you deserve it. Love. j
I will dearly miss you, that smile and blue eyes. You provided a father figure to my children. I remember many things that you taught me along the way- honesty, be reliable, be responsible , love and to forgive those who make mistakes. God has gained so much by having you in heaven. You are now at peace and have a renewed spirit.
I always found it amazing the wealth of knowledge Uncle Donald shared with us about our history, relatives, and took me personally to the places from which so much of my heritage comes.............so much I might have never connected to without him. He and Aunt Carol made me realize I am a part of the trail.....so much comes before us. It is so easy in this fast paced world to think we are the beginning and end....yet we are only a blink in a long journey that begins with so many that came before us. Iowa and all the family in it........gave me a sense of who I am ...and from where a part of me came. .I will never forget the first trips he took us out to Mars Hill, Fiddler Cemetary, ....etc. Thank you Uncle Donald for the gifts of yourself, and your knowledge.....you shared so willingly with us all. You were a special man...and I will not forget the twinkle in your eyes as you talked about so many things you took pride in. God's blessings to you in the next world. And to the family..........peace in the days to come.---Denise
You will be missed Grandpa. You always had a great story or wisdom to share with us. I will remember all of our good laughs and cups of coffee. Love you!
Once a co-worker, later a neighbor on Westside Dr., I always enjoyed visiting with Don (and Carol). I am sorry to learn of his passing. My sympathies to his family.
Carol, I am so sorry about Don's passing. I've tried in vain to get in contact with you. Please contact me (222 North Green Street, (641) 682-3873, rmwells222@yahoo.com) when things calm down. Marilyn
