Obituary for Joel Patrick Penaluna

Joel Patrick Penaluna, 61, of Iowa Falls died at his home on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Memorial services on Friday at 5:00 PM at Linn’s Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. Friends may call the Funeral Home after 3:00 PM on Friday. Arrangements by Iowa Cremation. Survivors include a daughter, Darci Bontrager of St. Paul, Minnesota; a son, Michael (Stephanie) of Marion; three brothers, Kenneth (Donna) of Ankeny, Thomas ( Sonja) of Marion, Richard (Marlie) of spoken, Washington and a sister, Jeri Bradley of Waverly. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Emma Bontrager, Peyton, Parker and Preston Penaluna. He was preceded in death by his parents. Joel was born on April 30, 1949 in Hampton, the son of Kenneth and Mignon Cronan Penaluna. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1967 and attended Ellsworth Community College. He was the owner and operator of Penaluna Transfer in Iowa Falls for 23 years. Joel was the Iowa Falls High School Girls Golf coach and was the teaching golf pro at the Highland Country Club for many years. He enjoyed golf, cribbage, travel and was an avid Hawkeye fan. A memorial fund has been established in Joel’s name.
