Obituary for Jay Dee Garwood

Jay Dee Garwood, 63, of Waterloo, died Monday, May 24, 2010 at Parkview Nursing and Rehab. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. A visitation will be held Saturday at the church at 9 a.m. Survivors include his wife, Carol; children, Jayson Garwood of Grundy Center and Charlotte Taylor of Shell Rock; his mother, Clara Garwood of Vinton; grandchildren, Shantel and Macy Garwood, and Candace and Olivia Taylor; and brothers, Ted Garwood of Ogden and Sam Garwood of Vinton. He was preceded in death by his father, Macy E. Garwood. Jay was born July 20, 1946 in Dexter to Macy and Clara Garwood. He graduated from Guthrie Center High School. Jay married Carol Roth in Des Moines on June 26, 1965. Jay owned and operated Garwood Electric and worked as a maintenance electrician for Chamberlain Manufacturing. He owned Garwood Trucking until his death. Jay liked to go fishing with his grandchildren and listen to music. He always loved a good cup of coffee and a card game.
