Hettie M. Dyke

Hettie M. Dyke, 78 of Fremont, IA passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the Hospice House of Davis and Wapello County. A memorial service will be held at Shrine of Memories Funeral Home Chapel Mausoleum on May 20, 2010 with services taking place from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Hettie was the daughter of Clyde and Mabel Watson. She was born September 6, 1931 in Moberly, MO. On June 15, 1952, Hettie was united in marriage to Bill Dyke in Ottumwa, IA. To this union, three children were born. Hettie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Bill; her children, Marilyn (Charles) Trimble of Ottumwa, IA and Donald (Jo) Dyke of Batavia, IA; a daughter-in-law, Amy Dyke of Fremont, IA; four grandchildren, Charles and Angela Trimble, David Dyke and Amanda (Jake) Dixson; and her sister, Betty Grothe of Ottumwa, IA. Hettie spent her life as a devoted wife and mother. After raising her children, including several foster children, she relished in the role of grandmother, where you could always go to find a hug and never left with an empty stomach. Hettie''s love was not limited to her own grandchildren - any child, or adult for that matter, never knew Hettie by her real name but lovingly referred to her as "Granny". She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mabel Watson; a son, Greg; two sisters, Peg Robinson and Margaret Bankson and her brother, Kenneth Watson.
