Dorothy Jean Hanson

Jean Hanson, 96, of Sheffield, IA passed away at the Sheffield Care Center. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Cremation Society of Eastern Central Western Iowa is assisting the family. Dorothy Jean Hanson was born on December 7, 1913 to Louis and Clara Huntzicker Bottemiller in Bertha, Minnesota. On June 25, 1933 she married Lawrence Hanson. They lived in various communities, including Bertha, Appleton, and Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. They retired in Sarasota, Florida and, after Larry''s death, she moved back to Appleton, then to Sheffield. Jean enjoyed knitting afghans and Norwegian sweaters. She loved to travel, go camping and play cards. Friends were a very important part of her life. She is survived by her three children; Richard (Barbara) Hanson of German Town Hills, IL, Beverly (Ned) Bohach of Sheffield, and Thomas (Karen) Hanson of Riverview, FL. She had nine grandchildren; Kevin (Gigi) Bohach of Maquoketa, IA, Kim (Dave) O''Connor, Kari (Pat) Mondt, and Kacy (Randy) Larson of Sheffield, Mark (Heather) Hanson of Peoria, IL, Margit (Todd) Alderson of German Town Hills, IL, Kirsten Hanson of West Peoria, IL, Steven Hanson of Minneapolis, MN, and Susan Hanson of Peoria, IL. Jean had sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her parents, two sisters, a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter.
