Obituary for Charlotte Joyce Sherrets

Charlotte Joyce Sherrets, 86, of Independence, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at East Towne Care Center, Independence of natural causes. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Hope Wesleyan Church, Independence with the Rev. Robert Solon officiating. Private Inurnment will be in Wilson Cemetery. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is assisting the family. Survivors include her children, Marcia(Skip) Hall of Guttenberg, Sharla Sherrets, Steve(Julie) Sherrets, Scott Sherrets, all of Independence, Tim(Kathy) Sherrets of Colesburg, Larry(Nancy) DeGrief of San Diego, CA and Mary(Bud) Freeland of Strawberry Point; Sister, Doris Miehe of Mesa, AZ. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, Leonard(Ginnie) Sherrets in 1984 and 4 brothers. Charlotte Joyce Huffman was born August 12, 1923 in Independence, IA the daughter of Charles & Katherine (Mathers) Huffman. In 1939, she married Eldon DeGreif and later divorced. On July 25, 1946, she married Leonard(Ginnie) Sherrets in Galena, Illinois. Joyce was a member of Hope Wesleyan Church, Women’s Auxillary, enjoyed reading, playing bingo and cards. She was also an active member of numerous activities at East Towne Care Center. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her and knew her. Online condolences may be left at www.iowacremation.com
