Riley Reeves

Riley Jr. Reeves, 82, of Vinton, IA passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 15th, at 1:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton, IA, with Pastor Jim Blair officiating. A celebration of life will follow at Windsor Manor in Vinton. Riley was the son of Riley M. and Eva (Hill) Reeves. He was born November 4, 1927 in Bucknel, IA. He joined the Army and served 15 years during World War II and the Korean War. In 1962 Riley was united in marriage to Novil Reeves in Columbus Junction, IA. To this union, two children were born. Riley lived in Hampton, IL before moving to Vinton, IA, where he spent the majority of his life. He did road construction and later worked and eventually retired from Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton, IA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and spending time with family. He was active in Eagles Club and the American Legion. Riley is survived by his daughters, Roline Simon of Milford, KS, and Sharon (Mitch) Tuttle of Vinton, IA; 3 grandsons, Devin and Derrick Simon, and Mitchell A. Tuttle; a granddaughter Nichole (Nic Scott) Moss; a great-grandson, Nashua Scott; 4 brothers, Lyle, Ray, Harry, and Archie Reeves; and one sister Mary Reeves. He was preceded in death by his wife, Novil; his parents Riley M. and Eva Reeves; 3 brothers Bobby, Joey and Marty Reeves; and a sister, Lavonne Brozovich.
