Ethel M. Peake

Ethel M. Peake, 85, of Dubuque, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date with inurnment at Dubuque Memorial Gardens. Cremation Society of Eastern Central Western Iowa is assisting the family. Ethel was born on April 7, 1925, to Emil and Anna Wendlandt in Fon du lac, Wisconsin. She married Marvin Peake on January 1, 1943. He died October 10, 1989. Ethel was employed at the former Dubuque Packing Company for 25 years and also was a supervisor at a local convenience store. She was a warm and caring person who would do anything for her family and was always there with a helping hand for others. She enjoyed playing cards on Saturday nights, and working in her herb garden. She was a talented china painting artist. She was a charter member of a Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster, WI. She had a strong belief in the afterlife. She is survived by her daughter Kris Patterson of Dubuque; grandchildren, Marvin (Judy Klein), Holly, and Dewey; sister Myrtle Eberhardt of Madison, WI; and half-sister Stella Wendlandt of Lancaster, WI. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; two sisters and three brothers. The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque for the loving care they provided. They especially thank Megan, Jan, Becky, and Lisa.
