Gustave Carl Klubal, 95, died January 20, 2010 at The Village in Indianola, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, Yvette Lewis Klubal; son George Lewis Klubal of Fryberg, Maine; daughter Barbara Klubal Svec of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandsons Damek Klubal Svec of Ames, Iowa; Karl Klubal Svec of Ames, Iowa; and Robin Klubal Svec of Iowa City, Iowa. Gus was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elsa Klubal Murphrey. Gustave was born June 10, 1914 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He met his future wife in June, 1943 at Caven Point, New Jersey where he was stationed with the U.S Army. They were married August 10, 1943 in Greenville, Pennsylvania. In October, 1943, Gus was sent to England for ten months and then to France where he served as a counterintelligence officer, collecting, evaluating and disseminating information pertaining to sabotage and subversive activities. After the war, Gus and Yvette settled in Philadelphia where they raised their children. Gustave attended LaSalle University and received a degree in Accounting in 1951. He spent his career working for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including 4 years as Business Manager for the Henry R. Landis State Hospital in Philadelphia. Among Gus''s interests were golf, woodworking, electronics and gardening. A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Honoring Gus''s wishes, his body will be cremated, and there will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent to his home at 707 Robin Glen, Apt. 111, Indianola, IA 50125.
