Mary Ann Banks
"I loved my Aunt Mary Ann,I didn't get to see her much but she always made me feel special. She was my moms oldest sister. She would tell me how special I was compared to others and tell me these facinating stories about ghosts!!!She reassured me I was a normal little girl!!!!I just found out about her passing and it really broke my heart.I wished I would have gotten to see her again.I love her very much and she will always have a very special place in my heart forever.
Unfortunately I got to know Mary Ann only friefly late in her life and not under the best of circumstances at that. I have the feeling that I missed knowing a fun wonderful caring lady. We got to visit one afternoon when I was there while she was at her computer. We shared some laughs at that time and she even forwarded me a couple of her funny messages. It was so heartwarming to me when I told her of my mother who grew up in Winterset and that her home was where the hospital now stands. Mary Ann said, "Yep, that area was often referred to as Hell's Half Acre." I remember several times my mother telling me that so it was fun to hear that someone else knew what it was called. I'm glad I had the opportunity, be it brief, to meet and begin to know your Mom. I know you have fond memories of your mother that will sustain you in the days to come. Hospice Volunteer, Kathleen Kordick
Dan and Angel, I've been praying for you in this loss. Love, Debbie Shafer
Chris..My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Your mom was a wonderful lady and will be missed.
I met Mary Ann through genealogy research many years. She was kind enough to meet with my cousin, my mother, my aunt and I to discuss the Allen family and she graciously shared inforation with us. I got busy with other things and just recently got back into genealogy and found Mary Ann had passed. I know she will be missed. I am very sorry for your lose.
My thoughts and prayers are with Chris, Mike and Danny. Mary Ann was definately one of a kind. Kris
My thoughts are with your family. Mary Ann was a true beauty. A presence of power and grace. I cherish the hours playing cards and the limitless knowledge on local history. And her sense of humor was classic. I loved seeing her laugh and smile.
I will miss Maryann very much. We had a lot of good times for many years. She is someone I will never forget and the memories she has left with me will be with me throughout my life. My thoughts and prayers are with all her family today and always.
Mary Ann (Dusty) and I were great friends and had some great times together. Unfortuneately when we married we lost track of one another. Then afew years ago I received an email from Mary Ann Banks and had no idea who that was as I akways knew her as "Dusty". It was so good to hear from her again and we did get to meet in Red OAk for coffee and shl was alway going to come back one more time. She did send a few pisa of our teen yrs and she will always be in my heart.
