Roger Dale Perkins

Roger Dale Perkins, 65, of Anamosa, IA passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Jones Regional Medical Center Anamosa. Services will be held Saturday, April 17 at 2:00 pm at the First United Congregational Church in Anamosa. Roger was born July 14, 1944 in Grand Rapids, MN to Frank and Bertha (Hanson) Perkins. Roger graduated high school in 1962, went to junior college, then transferred to the University of Minnesota. He joined the Army in July of ''65 and was later honorably discharged in ''72. Roger and Carolyn Twidt-Ackley were united in marriage June 19, 1976. He was employed for 30 years at Maquoketa Valley REC, Anamosa, as a Coordinator of Engineering. He worked his way up to the Director of Engineering, where he served until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and 3 children and spoiling the grandchildren who will all miss him dearly. Survivors include his wife Carolyn; son AECS (AW) Randal R. Ackley, USN of Norfolk, VA; daughters Debbi (Bun) Montgomery of Alachua, FL, and Wendy (Kevin) Kirchhoff of Pocahontas, IA; sister Millie (Mark) Clark of Glendale, AZ; brothers Wally Perkins of Placentia, CA and Wayne (Leslie) Perkins of Prior Lake, MN; brother-in-law Ron Lane of Grand Rapids, MN; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Sonny; sisters Betty, Jenny and Debbie; and sister-in-law Marilyn Wolfe.
