Elizabeth H. Frese

Elizabeth H. (Bettie) Frese was born December 28, 1911 in McGregor, Iowa, to Arthur J. and Hilma (Eggen) Durr. She passed from this life on April 7, 2010. She was baptized as an infant, in the Norwegian Lutheran Church on Swede Ridge, rural McGregor. She graduated from the McGregor High school in 1929 and was employed as a switchboard operator with the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in McGregor and later with the Farmers Telephone Company in Monona. She was a charter member of the Women''s Society of Christian Service in the Monona Methodist Church where she was also a member of the choir for many years. Later she was a member of the First Lutheran choir in McGregor. She married Ben Frese in 1930. He preceded her in death in August 1982. Also preceded in death were her parents, three sisters (Ruth, Norma, & Olive) and three brothers (Morris, Everett, & Ken.) She is survived by one son, Curtis (Dorothy) Frese of Seabeck, WA and one daughter, Yvonna Redemske of McGregor, IA, two grandsons and their wives, two granddaughters and their husbands, two great grandsons and their wives, two great granddaughters and many relatives and friends. Memorial Service to be held Saturday April 10, 2010 at 4 pm at the First Lutheran (Swede Ridge) Church, 31743 175 St. Great River Road, McGregor. With a fellowship dinner to follow. Internment to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bettie Frese''s name may be made to The First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
