Obituary for Clara Evelyn Hills

Clara E. Hills, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Cremation Society of Eastern Central Western Iowa is assisting the family. Clara Evelyn Marie McDowell was born on August 6, 1935, to James and Irene Thompson McDowell at home in Jefferson County. Clara graduated from the high school in Melrose, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Donald Hills on May 22, 1954 in Wapello, Iowa. She worked for AEA16 for 17 years as a teaching associate. Clara enjoyed fishing, quilting, sewing, and her family. She enjoyed helping with the Special Olympics. She is survived by her husband, Don; children, Carla (Mike) Morrow, Becky (Tim) Smith, and Jon (Tess) Hills; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; and 1 daughter, Cherie.
