Obituary for Carl James Janssen

Carl J. Janssen, 51, of Elk Run Heights, IA passed away at the Cedar Valley Hospice House Sunday April 4, 2010. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday April 8 at the Countryside Vineyard Church in Evansdale. There will be a gathering at the church on Wednesday from 3:30 – 5:30 P.M. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is assisting the family. Carl James Janssen was born May 14, 1958 in Cedar Falls to Cornelius and Louise Janssen. On December 28, 2005 he married Melodie Kline in Las Vegas, NV. Carl is survived by his wife Melodie, a son Clint (Michelle Wike) Janssen of Mason City, daughters; Chelsea (Steve Church) Pontius of Omaha, NE and Celeste Baumert of Omaha, NE, Step-daughter Mary (Jamie) Geiger, and two step-sons Derek (Rayne Lind) Fike of Waterloo and Mitchell Fike of Waterloo, three sisters; Rose Janssen, Cornelia Dennis, and Dede (Jack) Schons and his mother Louise Janssen. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Christian Janssen, Ethan, Payne, and Xander Geiger, mother and father-in-law Sandra (Richard Nelson) Kline, a sister-in-law Melinda (Verlon) Shears and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
