William Arthur Hill

William Arthur Hill, age 78, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at his home following a lengthy illness. Memorial Mass is to be held at Sacred Heart Chapel at noon Saturday, October 17, 2009, with Father Sunny Dominic officiating. Military rites will be given at the church by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1856. William Hill (Bill) was born January 11, 1931 in Fort Dodge. Bill was a graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High, and then attended both Iowa Central Community College and Iowa State University. His main course of study was engineering. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950 serving through 1954 receiving numerous medals and commendations. He married Betty Jane Peterson on October 15, 1952. Bill was employed by Davis Brothers Construction; was the original owner of Fort Dodge Asphalt Co., was the owner of Hill Construction Co., and concluded his career with Wermac of Fort Dodge. Survivors include daughter Shelly Treloar of Fort Dodge, granddaughters Sarah and Kayla of Ames, IA, brothers Donald (Karen), Fort Dodge; Vernon of Denison, Texas; Terry (Connie) of Clinton, IA; sister Anna Bacon (Art) of Fort Dodge; and many well-loved nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Anna Hill, brother Robert and nephew Jeff Ackerson. Bill thoroughly enjoyed fishing, gardening and was a very active member of the VFW.
