Robert (Bob) McDonald, 71, of Brighton, Iowa passed away in his home on October 12, 2009. Bob was born in Prairie City, Iowa on February 4, 1938 to Robert Bruce McDonald, Sr. and Kathryn (Steele) McDonald. He had three sisters, Kathryn Berstler of Cedar Rapids, Louis Ann Crossett of Columbus Junction, and Fran Steenhoek of Monroe, Iowa. He married Mary Etta Bender on December 29, 1955 at the bride''s home in Washington, Iowa. Bob and Mary Etta had three children, Robert Michael McDonald and wife Gerry of Brighton, Iowa; Daniel Bruce McDonald of Glenwood, Iowa; and Kimberly Kay Geguzis and husband Chris of North Liberty, Iowa. He had one granddaughter Meghan Hammen and fiancé Scott Cooley of Iowa City, Iowa as well as 6 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren. During his lifetime he was employed by Kessler Distributing of Fairfield, IA; Pepsi Cola of Oskaloosa, IA; KAR Products of Des Plaines, IL; and Builder''s World of Columbus Junction, IA. His hobbies included camping, singing, traveling, refinishing furniture, and spending time with his family and his dog, Andy. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Kathryn McDonald and his sister, Kathryn Berstler. In Lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Washington County Humane Society and Hospice of Washington County. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16th at The First Church of God, 400 S. Mechanic Street, Brighton, IA. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.
