Wayne Kenneth Geerts

Wayne Kenneth Geerts, 75, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Manor Care Utica Ridge in Davenport. At Wayne’s request he has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 7, 2009 at 12:30 P.M. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church 4444 W Kimberly Rd. Davenport, IA 52806 with Reverend Bob Joseph presiding over the service. A private committal service will be held at a later date. Wayne Kenneth Geerts was born September18, 1934 in Davenport to Theodore and Marie (Mayer) Geerts. Wayne attended St. Ambrose Academy. On December 28, 1957 Wayne married Diane Griebel. Wayne entered the United States Army in 1953 and served for 26 years until his retirement in 1979. After serving his country Wayne was employed at Alcoa Riverdale for 30 years. In Wayne’s spare time he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as rebuilding cars especially convertibles, walking Lexi his chow-chow, NFL football, Nascar Races, and the Dubuque Greyhound Park. Wayne was an avid member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the American Legion Post 154 in Bettendorf, Plus 60 club, and Casi. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Diane (Tyg) Geerts, Brother James (Marilyn) Geerts of Jacksonville FL, Son Wayne (Dee) Geerts Jr. of Blue Grass, IA, Daughter Linda (Mark) Jacobs of De Witt, IA, Grandson Chris (Kristin) Geerts of Bettendorf, Grandson Cory Jacobs of Ames, and by Granddaughter Cassandra Jacobs of DeWitt Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Marie (Mayer) Geerts, Sister Mary Geerts, Sister Helen Frommelt, Brother Tony Geerts, and by brother Richard Geerts. Wayne’s family would like to give a special thanks to Tracy and Becky and also to the Manor Care Utica Ridge for the special care he received. A memorial fund at the Genesis Hospice has been established in Wayne’s name
