Obituary for Gary Lee Hansen

Gary L. Hansen, 70, of Allison died November 05, 2009 at the Allison Manor Nursing Home in Allison. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the United Church of Christ in Allison. Cremation Society of Eastern Central Western Iowa is assisting the family. Gary Lee Hansen was born on April 20, 1939 to Robert and Bertha Patton Hansen. He graduated from Estherville High School. He married Laurie McKean on September 23, 1961 in Gruver, Iowa. Gary proudly served in the Iowa National Guard for 9 years. Gary worked at the Golden Sun Feeds for 10 years in Sheffield and Yoder Feeds for 10 years in Allison. Gary retired from the Butler County Sheriff Office. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Allison, Post Member and President of Allison Lions and Post Member of Allison Ambulance. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, photography, and watching his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Laurie; son, Gregory Hansen of Kalona; daughter, Kathryn (Kenneth) Alessi of Flanagan, IL; and son, Bradley (Wendy) Hansen of Allison; 12 grandchildren, Kelsey Hansen, Shelby Hansen, Meghan Alessi, K. Kyle Alessi, Shauna Hansen, Shannon Hansen, Shayna Engelhardt, Michael Hansen, Caitlin Allan, Zackary Allan, Wesley Allan, Jessica (Abe) Allan Leisinger; and 1 great granddaughter, Autumn Leisinger. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and 1 granddaughter, Sharon Nicole Hansen.
