Doris A. Caldwell, 74, of Fort Madison, IA died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the West Point Care Center, West Point, IA. A memorial service is planned for a later date. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is handling arrangements. Survivors include her daughter, Jane Caldwell and son, Kenneth (Jan) Caldwell both of Iowa City; grandson, Kenneth (Becky) Caldwell of Cedar Rapids; great grandson, Logan Caldwell of Cedar Rapids; Sisters, Reatha Shearer of Lake Station, IN, Roslyn "Rosie" Kamp of Fort Madison, Alice (Sue) Kamp of Fort Madison, Margie (Ed) Hemm of Douds, IA; brothers, Don (Cass) Zachmeyer of Salem, IA, Larry (Linda) Zachmeyer of Fort Madison and David Zachmeyer of Sacramento, CA. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Edith Reed, Mary Zachmeyer, Shirley Zachmeyer and brothers, Billy, Jerry, John and Tom (Shorty) Zachmeyer. Doris Arlene Zachmeyer was born March 4, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant, IA the daughter of Thomas & Geneva (Woods) Zachmeyer. She married Kenneth Wayne Caldwell, M.D. on August 11, 1952 in Rome, IA.
