Ronald E. Watson

Ronald E. Watson Age 74 of Center Junction passed on June 17th, 2009 at the family home. Born to John and Elsie-Nelson Watson in Marion, July 11, 1934. Schooled at Albernett, Kenwood and Anamosa. At age 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951. He spent 2 � years in Germany. He was trained as a Medical Corpsman. Discharged in 1954 then reenlisted April 1955 in the U.S. Air Force. Trained as an X-Ray technician and radiation therapy tech. He was discharged in January 1960 from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. Ron was a house painter when he married Darla (Axline) Watson of Marion on July 4th 1968. Ron worked in the insurance field from 1974 till 1997 when he retired, working for Cappers Weekly and Wallace''s Farmer till 1986 when he became an independent agent, having his own agency. In retirement he engaged in his favorite hobby, Billiards. Through his life he has won over 150 Billiard and pool tournaments over 48 states, Canada, Mexico and 17 European countries. He was respected by many for his talent with a pool cue, his respect for the game and his sharp wit. He will be missed not only by his family, but many friends as well. He was a most unforgettable man. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Barbara and a nephew Bobby Ness. He is survived by his wife Darla, three sons, Victor (Kim) Tipton of Houston Texas. John (Tonya) Watson of Center Junction, Donald (Shelley) Watson of Anamosa, a daughter Michelle Mehrmann of Old Town Florida, 4 granddaughters, 4 grandsons and 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Joan Hopkins of Anamosa and Joyce (Richard) Mullbrook of Kellogg; 2 nephews; and 6 nieces. A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday June 28th at 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the family home at 414 1st St, Center Junction, IA 52212, to celebrate his life and mourn his passing.
