Jerry Chase

Jerry Chase, 79, of Bettendorf, IA, died peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2009 at Forest Hills Health and Rehabilitation in Moline. Jerry was a longtime Quad-City resident originally born in Nebraska and raised in La Porte, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Chase and Clarice Tollefson. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn, siblings, James Chase, Thomas Chase and Lane Norton, children, Dan (Carol) Chase, Gregg (Sandy) Bridge-Chase, David (Marla) Chase, Laura (Glenn) Smith, Jim (Petra) Chase, Steve Couch, Greg Couch, Michele (Fred) Harlow, Marla (David) Chase and many grand and great grandchildren. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and friend to all. He enjoyed traveling, coffee and a good piece of pie. He was an active A.A. member for 40 years. He was also involved in the Lions, Rotary and Optimists Clubs. He was an enthusiastic teller of jokes and had puns, a marvelous whistler, poor golfer, and an indifferent gardener. He loved being with his large family, and was a great companion to his wife, Marilyn. Many thanks to all who contributed joy and comfort to Jerry during a great life and peaceful death. The family would like to extend a special Thank you to the caring staff at Forest Hills. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on August 10, 2009 from 5 pm – 8 pm at Mickey’s Valley Hall, Pleasant Valley, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
