Kathryn Louise Tollefson Shepard

Kathryn Louise Tollefson Shepard, 86, of Placerville, Calif., formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 10, at Marshall Hospital. She was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Waterloo, daughter of Kenneth A. and Ruth Butler Myers. She married Lewis D. Tollefson on April 19, 1941, in St. Joseph, Mo. He preceded her in death. She married Dale G. Shepard on Dec. 14, 2001. He died in 2007. She taught school under the emergency credential certification program at Springvale, Coloma, Rescue and Placerville Elementary between 1946 and 1955. She also worked in the library at EDUHS. Survived by: four daughters, Barbara Grandfield of Vancouver, Wash., Jane Shannon and Donna (Ron) Fuller, both of Placerville, and Delores "Doe" (Ray) Rizk of Henderson, Nev.; three stepchildren, Gary (Theresa) Shepard of Peosta, Joel (Cindie) Shepard of Waterloo and Ann Shepard of Estero, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; three stepgrandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Moine of Waverly; and a brother, George W. Myers of Virginia Beach, Va. Preceded in death by: a brother, Robert Myers. Family graveside services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Westwood Memorial Cemetery, Cold Springs Road, Placerville. Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is assisting the family. Memorials: may be directed to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers. Kathryn loved ceramics, crocheting and being involved in her children''s activities.
