Dorothy M. Crane

Dorothy Crane, a resident of Good Samaritan Health and Rehab Center since 2006, formerly of 805 E. Williams, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 5, 2009 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She had been a resident at the Good Samaritan Alzheimer''s unit since May of 2006. She was born June 27, 1919, in Ottumwa to Lewis and Maudoline Miller Briggs. She married Charles Richard Creech in January 1938. They later divorced. She married Ed Crane in 1969. Both preceded her in death. Dorothy worked for 25 years at John Morrell, retiring before the plant closed in 1975. She was a faithful member of First Pentecostal Assembly of God in Ottumwa. She loved her Lord, her family, and her friends. She spent many hours reading her Bible and praying. In retirement, she tirelessly drove her friends to appointments and shopping. She is survived by two daughters, Geraldine, "Geri," Creech Nordyke and husband, David, Sr., of Agency; and Phyllis Creech Walter and husband, Ed, of Billings, Missouri; a son, Dennis Creech of La Marida, California; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, plus a niece, a nephew, and a sister-in-law. Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Donald Briggs; two granddaughters, Cheryl Nordyke Cloke and Kimberly Creech; and a great-granddaughter, Nina Cloke. Cremation was afforded by the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 6, at First Pentecostal Assembly of God, 733 Church Street, Ottumwa, Iowa. Pastors Richard Schlotter and George Edgerly will officiate. Visitation will precede the service at the church with family present from 1:00 PM. Inurnment will occur following the service at Shaul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to either First Pentecostal Assembly or the Alzheimer''s Unit at the Good Samaritan Center of Ottumwa.
