Claude W. Patten, 86, of Brooklyn, IA passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Per Claude''s wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Brooklyn Methodist Church. There will be a luncheon following at the church. Survivors include his wife Evelyn of Brooklyn, IA; daughter Judie Roberts of Brooklyn, IA; three sons, David (Helen) Patten of Central City, IA, Thomas (Debra) Patten of Republic, MO, and John (Mary Jo) Patten of Victor, IA; seven sisters; two brothers; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Della Patten, one daughter, and one sister. Claude Wayne Patten was born December 6, 1922 in Brooklyn, IA the son of John and Della (Smith) Patten. He married Evelyn Marie Spilman on December 24, 1941 in Unionville, MO. Claude graduated form Brooklyn High School in 1940 and served his country honorably in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. He was employed with Victor Manufacturing in Victor, IA as a tool and die setter. He was a member of the Grace Methodist Church of Brooklyn, the Brooklyn-Victor Country Club, and enjoyed wood working. Claude especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren, family, and many friends.
