My thoughts and prayers to both of you in the loss of your father. We have such fond memeories of your family growing up in Mitchellville. Love, Liz
Dear Sara, Tori and families. We just wanted you to know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time of the loss of your Dad. We only lived a couple of blocks away from your folks house. We are sure missing both of them during our 2 month stay in Texas as they came down here too to escape the cold for a lttle while. I also remember the good times that your Dad and Mom had when they were with my folks down in the valley by McAllen, Texas. We miss them both alot. My mom, Doris Polka passed away on March 17th 2009 and so I know her and your folks are sitting in Heaven right now and enjoying God's paradise and waiting till we are all together again. You take care and if we can help you in any way, please let us know. love, Bob and Patti Youngman
My condolences to the family. Although I only met Lux a few times through the years I always enjoyed his company, especially the year I traveled with your Dad and Mom and Ron and Marsha to Michigan for a fall weekend. A special memory with good friends. My thoughts are with you at this very difficult time. Kathleen Carothers (Marsha's longtime friend)
I met your father when he began working at Mitchellville Training School for Girls in 1972. I was fifteen at the time. He treated me with dignity and respect. I'm sure he touched many lives during his long career. He touched mine. I asked him if I could write to him, but he said, "Don't look back." And I didn't, until now. I'm so, so sorry for your loss.
my Deepest Condolences goes out to your family , i remember being the paper girl at one time , the lil incenties he'd leave for not having to chase his paper all over the JVH yard or getting a wet and sorry paper , he was a very GREAT guy ,
Tori, Sara and family: We extend our deepest sympathies. Dean and Barb were such wonderful friends to our entire family but most of all to my mom & dad, Bob & Wilma Skow. They were so kind, generous & caring as mom & dad both suffered with terminal cancer. We hope to organize a Luxford memorial golf tournament with proceeds donated to the Iowa Juvenile Home Foundation. We will keep you posted. Bill & Patty
"Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose." Thinking of all of you holding you in our heart. I will never forget the letter Dean sent us after Jake died...his kind heart will never be forgotten. The Westbrock's
Dean meant alot to me, he was my superitendent when I was incarsed, when Carter left and Mr. Luxford came. I just can't even describe how much he impacked my life for the better. God bless your family, I just wish I could of told him thank-you!!! Pamela Dawson Giles

Dear Tori, Sara and family, I am writing to express my sadness in the loss of your father. I worked for your Dad at the Juvenile Home. He was a great boss and a really good man. I learned a great deal from Dean and it was a honor to have worked with him. He will be truly missed by the people that had the opportunity to work with him, that knew him as their friend and from our community. I just finished talking with Dee Hand and she ask that I send her blessings and condolences as well. May your memories be of great comfort to you. God bless Nancy Purk
