Maurice E. Sorensen

Maurice "Sonny" E. Sorensen, 75, of Tipton, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the VFW in Tipton, Iowa. Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughter, Debra (Ray) Crilly of Dows City; stepchildren, Charlene Daisy of Tipton; Madonna (Mike) Watson of Lakeview; Christy (Warren) Graham of Anamosa; Mary (Randy) Bormann of Tipton; and Richard Kemmer of Sacramento, CA; brother, Edwin Sorensen; sister, Suzette Occhibone; 34 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Hiatt of Washington; and his grandparents. Maurice "Sonny" E. Sorensen was born on July 22, 1933 in Gilmore City, Iowa to Maurice and Lenora Fay. Sonny married Donna Kemmer on July 24, 1983 in Havelock, Iowa. He worked as a salesman for 15 years and was self employed as an auto and small engine repairman for 11 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and wood crafts. Sonny proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
