Lois Gene Lynch, 83, of The Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls, IA, formerly of Grundy Center, IA died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Martin Health Center of The Western Home Communities. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, Sept 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the United Methodist Church, 707 6th St, Grundy Center. A Memorial Service is planned for Monday Sept 29, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Western Home Chapel, 420 E 11th St, Cedar Falls, IA. Lois was born May 4, 1925 in Palermo Township rural Grundy County, IA to Mervan H. and Anna C. Haren Baughman. She graduated from the Grundy Center High School with the Class of 1942. She taught a year in Palermo Twp. #7 rural school in Grundy County. On June 28, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ray William Lynch. During Ray''s time in the Army, they lived briefly in Kentucky. Following his military service, they began farming in Palermo Township rural Grundy County, IA in 1946. After their marriage she was employed in the Grundy County Treasurer''s Office. Following her retirement from formal employment, she actively farmed with Ray until their retirement. Lois was a life-long member of The United Methodist Church in Grundy Center, IA. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and sewing, as well as spending time at their summer lake home in Minnesota. Lois is survived by her husband Ray of The Western Home Communities; son, Gene and his wife Susie Keck of Des Moines; daughter Sharon and her husband Paul Harberts of Grundy Center; grandchildren, Dierdre Lynch and Ann Lynch and her partner Anna Mikkelsen; step-grandchildren, Lizzie, Danny and Allie Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and daughter Donna Rae in 1949. Memorials may be directed to the Western Home Communities Resident Activity Fund, or to The United Methodist Church in Grundy Center.
