Wilmer Clair Diedrichs

Wilmer C. Diedrichs, 76, of Ames, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 17, 2008 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Per his wishes, Wilmer was cremated. No service is planned at this time. Survivors include his wife Reatha Diedrichs of Ames; two sons Max Diedrichs of Ames, Matthew Diedrichs of Boone; one grandson Austin Diedrichs of Norwalk; two granddaughters Noelle and Ava Diedrichs of Boone; three sisters; and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Carlotta Diedrichs, and one grandson Griffin Diedrichs. Wilmer Clair Diedrichs was born August 8, 1932 in Crab Orchard, NE the beloved son of Allen and Carlotta (Hunt) Diedrichs. He was united in marriage to Reatha Pomrenke on December 21, 1962 in Wheat Ridge, CO. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Wilmer was a research chemist at Iowa State University and later worked as a chemist at the Iowa Department of Agriculture in Des Moines. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many who will be greatly missed by all.
