Veeona Julia Mesa

Veeona Julia Mesa, 59, of North Liberty, IA, died Friday, November 7, 2008 in her home following a lengthy illness. A memorial will be held Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Friends of Old St. Michael''s 2986 F52 Trail, Parnell, IA 52325. Following the memorial service there will be a gathering at the hall next door. The Cremation Society of East-Central-Western Iowa is assisting the family. Survivors include a son Eric Mesa of Coralville, IA and a daughter Leilanii Mesa of Chicago, IL, two sisters; Dorthyjean Jensen of Oxford, IA and Edith (Gary) Anliker of Elgin, IL, a brother Arthur (Shelly) Donohoe of Williamsburg, IA, brother in-law Charles Strabala of Riverside, IA and ex-spouse, Francisco Mesa of Iowa City, IA. Also surviving are twenty nieces and nephews and forty-four great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Marlene Strabala. Veeona Julia Mesa was born October 10, 1949 in Williamsburg, IA, the daughter of Thomas & Iola (Wagner) Donohoe. She worked in administration and bookkeeping several years in California, Guam and Iowa. Veeona had been on dialysis for over thirty-one years and found enjoyment in flower gardening, walking, card playing and conversations with family, friends and with many people, especially the elderly.
