Lucile Matilda Amenell Peters, 95, of Burlington, IA passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Great River Medical Center – Klein Center in Burlington. Per her wishes, Lucile was cremated. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, IA. Survivors include sons David L. (Judy) Amenell, West Burlington; Thomas M. Amenell, Montrose; stepson Paul (Marilynn) Peters, Omaha; Stepdaughters Margaret (Bill) Hanke, Indianapolis; Gina (Ron) Westfall, Highland Village, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands LeRoy Amenell and Francis Peters, one brother Martin Freytag of Burlington, one stepdaughter Anne Peters Sivertso, and one granddaughter. Lucile Matilda Freytag was born March 9, 1913 in West Burlington, IA, the beloved daughter of Raymond Henry and Matilda K. (Dietz) Freytag. Lucile graduated from Burlington High School in 1931. She married LeRoy F. Amenell in Burlington, IA on October 2, 1933. He died in 1970. She later married Francis Ralph Peters in Burlington, IA on June 3, 1972 who died in 2007. Lucile was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed crocheting and other handwork, playing cards, cooking, and growing flowers. Over the years she had been active in both the Eastern Star and Eagles Club. Memorial donations in Lucile''s name may be made to the Klein Center in Burlington.
