Bonny L. Thayer
I MET BONNIE EARLY IN APRIL, AT THE CARECENTER-AS MY DAD WAS ADMITTED THERE FOR REHAB-AFTER HAVING BLEEDING IN HIS BRAIN.HE IS CURRENTLY STILL THERE. IT JUST MELTED MY HEART TO SEE BONNY EVERY DAY AND SAY HELLO TO HER. I KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING VERY UNIQUE AND SPECIAL ABOUT THIS LADY!! I WILL MISS SEEING HER-WHAT A GREAT LIFE SHE LIVED! GOD BLESS BONNY :)
When I first met Bonny I was impressed with her & her spirit. She was sharp as a tack & more up on currant events & politics than I. She was determined , opinionated, & very wise. She taught me more in the short time that I knew her than I learned in kindergarten. Considering the large gap in our ages she became a very important part of my life..She filled a void I had from losing my grandmother. God Bless you Bonny & I miss you terribly.
Bonny was a dear friend and mentor to me. She encouraged me in my own work and I admired her talent and tenacity. I will miss seeing her and her work. My favorite painting she did was of lilacs. I hope to be able to have that kind of skill some day. She was a dear soul and I will miss her a lot.
As a niece of Bonny Thayer, I want to share a few thoughts. Our family had many years together with Bonny. I doubt anyone really knows how many paintings Bonny completed in her lifetime. I'm not sure where her early watercolors are now, but there was one in particular that I remember, of ballet slippers.Bonny always loved flowers so painting her beautiful canvas creations was a natural expectation. She paid for my first piano lessons when I was nine. Bonny was interested in all the arts, often taking me with her to concerts at the Burlington Auditorium. My daughters had a great respect for her, as she was interested in their artistic accomplishments, too. In April, several family members spent a very memorable afternoon with her, and true to her love for all animals, she had a tiny puppy in her lap, which gave her such pleasure. Even though I'll miss our conversations about what was current in her life, I know she is with the Lord and has the freedom to paint and enjoy His beauty.
I first met Bonny at Rose Bush Gardens in Burlington for rehab following her stroke. With much encouragement for her to begin her painting again, she painted me a beautiful picture of old fashioned pink roses with a beautiful monarch butterfly.Bonny struggled at times with the painting but she finished it and it's a painting I will always cherish. I also visited with her on several occasions at her home, and what a delightful, interesting and talented lady that became a good friend to me, and I will truly miss her. God Bless Bonny.
I first met Bonnie when I worked at Summer St Animal Clinic when she came in to put her old dog to sleep, she was so distraught and I had a dog at home who looked just like hers. After a couple weeks I ask her if she would like my dog Sweety and she jump at the chance for companionship. I enjoyed visiting with Bonnie, she was very sharp and had the most interesting stories about her family and her animals and no one can deny her amazing art ability. I will treasure our friendship always.
