Theresa Ann Erpelding, 59, of Urbandale died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Taylor Hospice House. Per her wishes, she was cremated. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale, Iowa. The family will greet people from 10:00-11:00 AM. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM. A second service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St Joseph, Missouri at 1:30 PM. A family gathering will follow after the service. Theresa is survived by her son Jack, of Cedar Rapids; sister, Tina (Duane) Spalding; brother, Matthew (Johanna) Cates; nieces and nephews, Laura Becker, Joseph Spalding, Sgt. David Spalding, Christina Spalding, Mary Sankey, Sara Cates, and Tom Cates. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tom. Theresa Ann Erpelding was born on October 16, 1948 to Joseph and Laura Bray Cates in St. Joseph, Missouri. Theresa graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School in 1966. She married Roger Erpelding on June 4, 1976 in Perry, Iowa. They later divorced. Theresa worked for Janet Piller LLC for 7 ½ years. Theresa enjoyed photography, container gardening, scrapbooking, drawing and painting, garage sales, and traveling. A special thanks to all of her neighbors in her condo complex who helped her through this tough time. A memorial fund has been established.
