James Hartsock

James (Jim) J. Hartsock, 83, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, in Lone Tree, IA, of congestive heart failure. He was born May 6, 1925, to James E. and Lillie Pearl (Hank) Hartsock in the rural area of Wapello, IA. Jim graduated from Wapello Consolidated School. He was married to Marjorie J. Todd on August 24, 1943. Jim went immediately into the U.S. Army where he served in the European theater of WWII. He worked for 35 years with the Rural Electric Cooperative in Lone Tree. Jim was a retired volunteer fireman and member of the American Legion where he served previously as commander of the Lone Tree American Legion, John L. Mumm Post #457. Jim is survived by his wife Marjorie; a son Barry and his wife Susan Hartsock of Lone Tree; sister Ruth Kerr of Wapello, IA; four grandchildren, Bryan, Chris, Jared, and Jesse; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Ann Less, his parents, and six siblings. Services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Lone Tree John L. Mumm American Legion with visitation at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am. Lunch will be served. Burial will be at a later date in Wapello, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim''s name to Farmers & Merchants Savings Bank, Lone Tree, IA, 52755.
