Ingretta Cecilia Erickson

Ingretta C. Erickson, 100, passed away of natural causes peacefully at her home in Hiawatha, IA on July 6, 2008. She was born April 3, 1908 in Duluth, MN, the daughter of Peter and Ilena Johnson. Ingretta was known as Etta to most all acquainted with her, and she was a lifelong resident of Duluth until moving to Hiawatha in 2004. Ingretta attended Bethany Lutheran Church in the West end of Duluth in her early years. Later she attended and was very active in the Church Women''s groups at Elim Lutheran Church in West Duluth. She also was very active in the Rebecca Lodge of West Duluth and was a past President. Etta had many roles in life, but she always talked about her times working at Gunard Larson''s grocery store, the Lake Superior Insurance Agency, and being an election judge in Duluth for over 60 years. In 1930, she married Arthur Erickson and together they raised three children. Surviving are two daughters; Nancy Carpenter, and her husband, Joe, of Carrollton, TX; Patsy Walkowiak, and her husband, Jim of Duluth, MN; and a son Larry Erickson, and his wife, Terri Jo, from Cedar Rapids, IA. She also has eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Her husband Arthur Erickson was a printer for the Duluth Herald and News Tribune for over 45 years and died in 1983. A brief memorial service will be held in Duluth for family members.
